Miras MSK-4 Special Edition Electric-Acoustic Turkish Kanun
- Low stock - 1 item left
The Special Turkish Kanun MSK-4 by Miras is a Luthier's Choice premium kanun built entirely by the Miras workshop in Istanbul — with a factory-installed passive pickup that lets you plug straight into a PA, mixer, amplifier, or audio interface via a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable. No battery, no preamp pedal, no hidden electronics — just a clean direct signal from the soundboard to your output.

What you get with the MSK-4
Built by a different workshop (Miras, Istanbul) than our Sağlam-series Turkish kanuns (made in Ankara). The headline feature is the integrated passive pickup: the output jack on the body sends clean signal straight to your destination — no 9V battery, no internal preamp, no powered components. Plug it in like an electric guitar with passive pickups; for hotter signal, run through any standard preamp pedal or DI box. Beyond the pickup: Miras's own tonewood selection, hand-fitted mandals, and the workshop's signature setup.
Best for
- Performing musicians playing kanun in stage-amplified contexts (jazz fusion, world music, electric bands)
- Recording professionals tracking direct-in for clean separation from room mics
- Touring players needing one kanun for both acoustic sets and plugged-in venues
- Players who prefer Miras's tonewood and aesthetic over Sağlam's
- Collectors of Miras workshop pieces

FAQ
Does the MSK-4 need a battery?
No. Pickup is passive — no 9V battery, no internal preamp, no battery compartment. Just a 1/4" output jack on the body. Plug straight into PA/mixer/amp/interface. For hotter output, use any external preamp pedal or DI box.
Who builds the MSK-4?
Built entirely by the Miras workshop in Istanbul — not Mustafa Sağlam (whose Ankara workshop builds our MK / MKA / MKE series). Different luthiers, distinct workshop signatures.
Why higher priced than the Sağlam line?
Miras and Sağlam are different workshops with different cost structures and production volumes. The MSK-4 also includes the integrated pickup (a comparable retrofit would itself cost $300-500 plus install). Price reflects workshop, electronics, and lower production — not a quality verdict.
Can I record both unplugged + pickup signals?
Yes. Many studio engineers do exactly this: mic the soundboard, take a DI from the pickup, mix both in post for full presence vs. body control.
